Vijay Sondhi

Vijay Sondhi is a technology executive and the former CEO of NMI, where he helped scale the company into a leading embedded payments platform processing more than $440 billion in annual payment volume. Over three decades, he has built and led businesses across payments, commerce, software, and financial technology.

These days, Vijay is particularly interested in what happens when AI meets financial infrastructure — payments, DeFi and the increasingly programmable movement of money. He spends his time exploring those ideas and selectively working with founders, investors and executive teams.

Away from work, Vijay is usually on a bike, skis, a trail, or somewhere he hasn’t been before. In 2025, he climbed Mount Kilimanjaro with his daughter Anisa. The summit photo below is one of his favorites.
